Tutoring at Storrs

SSS offers free one-on-one and small group peer tutoring for students during the academic year. Tutoring is available in a variety of subjects with a focus on mathematics, science, and other general education requirements. Peer tutoring sessions are available primarily through walk-ins; scheduled appointments are offered per student’s request.

Walk-in Tutoring Hours

Tutoring begins the first Monday after the tenth day of classes each semester and ends on the Thursday prior to final exam week. Drop-in tutoring takes place Monday through Thursday evenings in room 230 in the ROWE Center for Undergraduate Education. One-on-one tutoring sessions are available by appointment.

Become a Tutor

Tutors are hired at the beginning of each semester before the tenth day of classes. Anyone is welcome to apply to become a tutor. Interested candidates should meet the following qualifications:

  • Dedicated and approachable
  • Knowledgeable about the SSS student population
  • Good academic & University standing
  • A 3.0 or better in subject/courses interested in tutoring
  • At least 24 credit hours completed
  • Availability: Sundays – Thursdays from 5 pm – 9 pm
