Creating Caring Communities

What is Creating Caring Communities?

This organization strives to create a community for those that identify as a student that have been or still are in the foster system, along with students that identify as independent. Here they can receive academic and social assistance with members that identify in the same community. Students in this organization act as peer mentors and use creative problem solving to help navigate some of the unique challenges this group faces. Additionally, we are working on making food and housing needs more accessible to students who are experiencing food and housing insecurity.

Our Mission Statement

With values in community, acceptance and compassion, we strive to foster an environment where students that have been in or still currently are in foster care, as well as those who are estranged from their families or identify as independent, can come together to create a campus family while working together to overcome barriers, learn valuable life skills and form initiatives around scholarly and personal growth for students in similar situations.
