As a McNair Scholar, students begin conducting research with a research group during the spring semester of their 2nd or 3rd year, for the remainder of their academic semesters until graduation. Students can also participate in our fully-funded research-intensive, graduate school preparation program in June and July to continue with their research project, build their graduate school application, and present at our annual poster exhibit.

In addition to engaging as a community year-round, Scholars frequently meet 1:1 with the Program Coordinator to discuss their progress and life balance, and participate in workshops, seminars, and the UNIV 2100 course to build academic writing, critical thinking, research communication, and professional development skills to be a well-rounded scholar and competitive candidate for graduate study.  Read more about the McNair Edge on our homepage!
