As a McNair Scholar, students begin conducting research with a research group during the spring semester of their 2nd or 3rd year, to continue for the remainder of their academic semesters until graduation. Students can also participate in our fully-funded research-intensive, graduate school preparation program in June and July to continue with their research project, build their graduate school application, and present at our annual poster exhibit.
In addition to engaging as a community year-round, Scholars frequently meet 1:1 with the Program Coordinator to discuss their progress and life balance, and participate in workshops, seminars, and the UNIV 2100 course to build academic writing, critical thinking, research communication, and professional development skills to be a well-rounded scholar and competitive candidate for graduate study. Read more about the McNair Edge on our homepage!
Once you access the application link above, all applicants must click on the SCHOLAR button on the application to be able to view the application in entirety, and promptly email Dr. Renee at firstname.lastname@example.org to state your intention to apply so we can coordinate your virtual interview session.
