CAPS Research Apprentice

The CAPS Research Apprenticeship is a semester-long introduction to STEM research. Apprentices learn about STEM graduate program career avenues and undergraduate research opportunities.

The apprenticeship involves:
  • Shadowing experience within a relevant STEM discipline​ (Dr. Renee will match you with a faculty mentor that aligns with your interests)
  • Development of quantitative research, writing, and communication skills through a one-credit course​
  • Community building and networking with professors and peers

Eligibility

In order to be eligible to become a CAPS Research Apprentice students must:

  • Be a first or second year student at UConn in good academic standing
  • Be enrolled in a STEM major
  • Identify as first-generation to college and from a household defined as low-income by the U.S. Department of Education and/or self-identify as an underrepresented racial or ethnic group in STEM graduate studies (these details are defined on the intent to apply and on the application)
