McNair Summer Fellows

The McNair Summer Fellowship Program gives qualified students who are already engaged in research projects the opportunity to continue this work over the summer.  Summer Fellows gain research support and may choose to apply for the more comprehensive McNair Scholars Program.

Eligibility

In order to be eligible to become a McNair Summer Fellow students must:

  • Be a rising sophomore, junior, or senior at UConn in good academic standing
  • Be enrolled in a STEM major and conducting independent research
  • Identify as first-generation to college and from a household defined as low income by the U.S. Department of Education and/or self-identify as an underrepresented racial or ethnic group in STEM graduate studies.
