2021 SSS Storrs New Student Orientation Advising

Welcome to Orientation Advising with SSS!

Please follow the steps below before your scheduled advising appointment.

First-year SSS students in ACES, CLAS (College of Liberal Arts and Sciences), School of BusinessSchool of Engineering, and School of Nursing will meet with a SSS advisor for their fall 2021 course registration advising appointment. Please read this page carefully for important information about this process.

       1. Prior to your fall registration advising appointment, please complete the SSS Student Information Form.

The information you provide will help your SSS advisor learn more about your needs and tailor your advising experience.

      2. Check your email the day before your appointment for important information about your advising session:

You will receive an email from SSS confirming your appointment time, the name and email of the SSS advisor you will be meeting with, and a link to the advisor’s WebEx meeting room, where your advising session will take place. WebEx is the preferred method for advising so that screen sharing of important information can happen. If you do not have access to technology and need to phone into your appointment, please reply to the email when you receive it so we can make other arrangements before your meeting.

      3. Tips for the day of your appointment:

As mentioned, we will use the WebEx platform to conduct your advising session. All University students have access to this platform. At your assigned meeting time, please go to the WebEx meeting room link you were provided. Remember: If you are using your camera function, your advisor can see you and your surroundings. Please keep this in mind and be ready for your session.

Keep in mind that the Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act prohibits advisors from sharing information or discussing your educational records with anyone but you. When you meet with your advisor, please make sure that you are in a space where you can engage in conversation privately with your advisor. If you have concerns, please let your advisor know as soon as the appointment begins.

If you have any questions, please contact kimberly.gorman@uconn.edu. We look forward to meeting you at your advising appointment!
